HEY THERE!
I’m Ashley,
You’ve probably seen my Instagram bio, “God is the greatest. Kittens are the cutest. Summer is fun but nothing is quite like Christmas.” Let me further elaborate on that.
I have two tiger cats, Claire and Audrey. I have had them for the past 11 years and I absolutely love cats. They are so cute and cuddly and dependable, the best friend a girl could ask for.
I’m an August birthday, so of course summer is always fun around here. I remember our summers of pools, lakes (of course, Michigan girl here), running around at night catching fireflies and amusement parks. Which is probably where my love for nature comes from. We were always going up north for some extra fun.

Christmas is a holiday we always celebrated in a large way around here. I know your mind probably went to stacks of presents, but that’s not what I’m talking about. We never put a huge emphasis on Santa Claus, because in my family, it’s a religious holiday. We did everything normal (decor, presents, family gatherings, Christmas dinner and so on) but for the most part, left Santa out of it. In fact, decorating for the holidays is where my love for decorating came from.

You’re welcome!
During all of these times growing up, the camera was a huge part of it. My mom always wanted memories captured. That being said, I am by no means a professional but I love playing around with cameras. In fact, I was taking selfies before it became a thing.
The thing I’m told the most is that I have too many clothes and shoes, but can a girl really have too many clothes and shoes? It’s all about being creative. Like combat boots and cute shorts in the middle of the summer.
My style revolves around cute and functional (and when it’s not functional, it better be cute). I love a neutral color palette, but pastels are okay if I have to have an actual color. I love mixing patterns to add a bit of personality. To describe my style would be, scandinavian for the base, boho for the add-ons in a neutral color palette.
If you ever find yourself in Michigan, you’ll love a good ol’ road trip. Some of my favorite spots are:
- St. Joseph
- South Haven
- The Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes (national park)
- The Famous Mackinaw Island
My Testimonial
I grew up in a Christian home. I went to church every Sunday, sometimes Sunday nights and Wednesday nights. I became a Christian as a child. Somewhere along the way, church hurt happened in several different directions. I started staying home
Sunday mornings as a teen while my parents went. I got around some of the wrong people and they throughout my teens. Of course it pulled me further away from God. Around that time, I completely stopped going to church. I also went through a deep depression
for a few years and lost trust in people. God started tugging at me when I started making big life decisions and I’m so glad He did. He turned my decisions completely around. From that day, I put my trust and faith in God again, and the revival happened. I’ll continue this story a bit more, later.
My Designing Journey
Most days I work from my bedroom or couch in the most comfiest of clothes and blankets all around. But isn’t that the best way to work, if given the choice?
I’ve been in the maker industry for over half a decade and I’ve loved every minute of it. (Even in the bad times I’ve loved it. Insane to love something so much, right?)
Before making the patterns and courses you see on Patterns By Ashley Dylan, I designed for other companies for several years. It was fun and I gained a lot of knowledge and extra skills, but towards the end I knew I had to start down another path. The Ashley Dylan company has grown so much and branching off has been quite the adventure.
One of the most important things I’ve learned designing is that the little details are vital. A lot of work goes into making sure I’ve got all the pictures and video needed, plus some.
I work with a lot of plans and design sketches. If you’re looking for a great beginner to easy pattern with lots of visuals, click here. I’m so lucky to show you how to make your dream project. It’s truly a pleasure.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
