I remember learning the slip stitch. It was the first time I was going to join a circle. Haha, yeah ya use the slip stitch to join. Sorry for not lettin’ ya know sooner. I’ll have to do a tutorial on that too! I’m sure a lot of beginners don’t know that.
BTW you can find me on Instagram @AshleyDylanLife.
Anyways, back to my story! The first time I made a slip stitch I was joining. For some reason I couldn’t get it. Well…I could get it, I just couldn’t remember how to do it after my one time. I kept referring back to my book of stitches (which was a nightmare if I do say so myself). Raise your hand if you’re not a fan of stitch books either. The headaches. Blah! Anyways, I kept at it and eventually I didn’t need that stitch book to keep telling me how (thank goodness!). Moral of the story, keep at it and forget those stitch books. ๐
Since we decided those stitch books aren’t for us, I have made a video tutorial for right and left handed. If you still need help, I’ve got photos below as well. Let’s begin!
The slip stitch video tutorial to help you along:
And for lefty’s:
If you would prefer a photo tutorial, I have also included that below!
To start, insert the crochet hook into the next stitch.

Second, you will take the yarn over the hook.

Then, catching the yarn with the hook, pull the crochet hook back through the stitch.

Now, pull the yarn through the last loop on the crochet hook.

Continue all the way across. Congrats! Ya made the slip stitch! I hope you feel great, that was a huge accomplishment learning a whole new crochet stitch!

Oopsy daisy! I didn’t tell you! You can find my merchย here if you’d like, and learn more about crochet right over here. ๐ Enjoy!

Did you think the slip stitch was going to be hard?
Or did you just need a refresher? If so, what part were ya having a hard time with?
I’m curious what you are using this stitch with! ๐
