One thing I can say, this was one of the best birthdays yet!
This year for my birthday all I wanted to do was do something up north. We finally decided on Mackinac Island, since we were already going up in that direction for something else earlier in the day. We didn’t get to spend the entire day on Mackinac, but that was fine since I’ve already been there several times. All I really wanted to do was get photos and be up around water.
First, we had the car ride there which wasn’t bad. Then we toured around town looking for a good gas station. We ended up having a little adventure with that since one was completely out. But found out that is actually normal at that station. But we finally did find some and were all ready for our new adventure.
BTW you can find me on Insta @AshleyDylanLife!
We found a parking spot at the docks. We always take Shepler’s ferry since it’s always clean with a super nice staff and fast. Since it was so late, we were able to have the ferry pretty much to ourselves. After the 15 minute ride over to the Island, we were finally on Mackinac Island! Granted since the Island doesn’t have cars, it does have horse manure, but it also has a very strong smell of fudge to mask it, so it’s all good.
You’ve gotta go!
Once we were on the island, we headed straight toward Mission Point Resort. If you’ve never been to Mission Point I highly recommend, since it’s so beautiful over in that direction. Although it is set up to be a resort, so it is a little crowded and found there weren’t any good camera angles at that time. For some reason it was super hot that day. That’s when we decided it was time to take a stop at the local grocery store to grab some drinks. Then head over to Island Slice Pizzeria for some of their great pizza and to cool down.
Once we were done with dinner we headed over to the other side of town toward all of those huge houses to see the sunset. We stayed down there for the longest time just taking photos. Side note, if you ever go over there, take bug spray. You will want it. Anyways, we got some really spectacular photos which you can check out below. After that, we just had to get some fudge and wait for the last ferry of the night.
